Newcastle hope to stop Anthony Gordon leaving ahead of interest from Premier League sides Arsenal and Liverpool and there are still rumours of a spat between Eddie Howe and Paul Mitchell, while Manchester City could switch from Jamal Musiala to Florian Wirtz. Elsewhere, Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana wants to remain at the club after interest from Marseille.
Newcastle plan Gordon talks
Newcastle United are set to start talks with Anthony Gordon on fresh terms as they hope to end speculation over his future.
The paper reports: “Newcastle are planning to offer Anthony Gordon a new contract that would make him the highest paid player at the club amid interest from their Premier League rivals.
“The England winger, 23, was the subject of interest from Liverpool back in the summer after The Reds were approached by Newcastle over a potential deal as they sought to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
“Gordon ended up remaining at St. James’ Park and has made a fine start to the new campaign – and The Magpies are now keen to tie him down to a bumper new deal.
“Preliminary talks have already been held with the representatives of the player, who has continued to be linked with Liverpool and is now attracting the interest of Arsenal.”
