£25m Wolves target could now link up with Matheus Cunha as Man United join transfer hunt

Wolves fans are hoping to see some incomings soon, but it looks as though one target could be heading elsewhere.

Wolves have mostly been selling or letting players go so far this summer.

But Fer Lopez is set to sign for Wolves, with the player now due for his medical at Molineux. Confirmation of the deal should arrive later in the week.

But Wolves are also after a new midfielder this summer, with the futures of Tommy Doyle and Boubacar Traore uncertain.

Doyle is a target for Sunderland and Wrexham, and the general feeling is that he will leave the club.

Earlier this year, Wolves were linked with a move for Gabriel Sara of Galatasaray.

But one report is now suggesting he could be on his way to Manchester United.

After just one season in Turkey, Sara is now emerging as a target for other clubs having impressed.

Sara joined Gala from Norwich City last year, and has scored two goals and made 10 assists in 45 appearances for the club.

According to Fotomac, Gala are ready to cash in on the player. It is thought they would sanction his exit for a fee in the region of £25 million.

But, unfortunately, there’s no word about Wolves, with Manchester United and Inter Milan both mentioned by the Turkish publication.

United, of course, already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves this summer.

Wolves fans know that he can be influential when it comes to helping to lure players from other clubs. Cunha played a part in helping Wolves to sign Pedro Lima from Sport Recife, and it may well be that the former Molineux number 10 plays agent with Sara.

Midfield is not currently an essential position for Wolves this summer

Even if Doyle leaves the club, midfielder is perhaps not a massively important position for Wolves this summer.

Because there will be more emphasis on signing players for those number 10 positions, it means that, in theory, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Marshall Munetsi become more regular options for the middle.

But there could still be scope for someone perhaps a little older.

Dave Edwards recently suggested Wolves should target an experienced midfielder to serve as a rotation option, perhaps in the mould of Joao Moutinho.

We will see what Vitor Pereira and the recruitment team do, but missing out on Sara may not actually be too much of a blow this summer.
