Nottingham Forest have big ambitions this summer transfer window.
After finishing seventh last season, Evangelos Marinakis is desperate to make Forest regular challengers for Europe.
Nottingham Forest are therefore expected to spend a pretty sizable amount of cash, with Igor Jesus likely to be Nuno Espirito Santo’s first signing.
Jesus’ Botafogo teammate Jair Cunha could also make a switch to the City Ground, although there is still work to be done on that deal.
Forest are also keen to sign a winger this window and with that said, they could well land Lyon’s jet-heeled maverick.
Nottingham Forest could sign Lyon’s Malick Fofana
Lyon have just been automatically relegated from Ligue 1 after failing to convince the authorities about their financial difficulties.
That means many of their best players will leave and one of those being Malick Fofana, who is on Nuno Espirito Santo’s radar.
According to French outlet L’Equipe, Forest were exploring a deal to sign Fofana earlier this month, although Chelsea were also named as potential suitors.
Even still, after Lyon’s shock relegation, it puts Forest in a decent position to land his signature, which was previously valued at around £43m.
Lyon may be forced to significantly reduce their asking price for the 20-year-old, who netted 11 goals whilst laying on six assists last season.
Forest should also consider Lyon duo Nicolas Tagliafico and Lucas Perri
Forest are in the market for a left-back following Harry Toffolo and Alex Moreno’s departures.
Liverpool’s Kostas Tsimikas has been linked and it’s understood the Reds are open to sanctioning his sale.
Lyon left-back Nicolas Tagliafico should also be under consideration as he’ll now be available for a bargain fee.
The 32-year-old has collected 70 caps for Argentina, so clearly he would bring a lot of experience and quality to Espirito Santo’s squad.
Lucas Perri is another one who could be poached from the French giants, and he has been linked to Forest previously.
Forest were looking at Perri a couple of weeks ago as they look to bring in competition for Matz Sels.
