AC Milan manager Max Allegri has made £27m Everton flop his dream signing this summer

Everton’s recruitment over the last decade, especially under Farhad Moshiri’s reign, has been really hit and miss.

Moshiri invested heavily in Everton during his first few years on Merseyside and there were several flop signings.

Yannick Bolasie, Sandro Ramirez, Cenk Tosun and Jean-Philippe Gbamin are just a handful of examples who failed to make the grade at Goodison Park.

Even Ademola Lookman didn’t find his form with the Toffees, but he’s now considered one of Europe’s best wingers at Atalanta.

Lookman is being considered by Barcelona this summer, and now another former Everton star is wanted by a European giant after a prolific season.

AC Milan boss Max Allegri dreams of signing former Everton striker Moise Kean

Everton paid £27m for Moise Kean back in 2019, and his signing was met with great fanfare as he arrived with a big reputation.

But, for whatever reason, it didn’t work out for Kean, and he left on a permanent deal in 2023 after netting four goals in 39 appearances.

Since then, the 25-year-old has established himself as one of the best strikers on the continent with Fiorentina, having finished as the second top scorer in Serie A last term.

Now, Italian journalist Carlo Pellegatti is reporting that AC Milan manager Max Allegri dreams of signing Kean this window.

“Returning to Allegri, the coach asked for a player who knows the Italian league well,” Pellegatti explained.

“Vlahovic or Retegui—some might even think of Hojlund, who played one year in Serie A. So, I’ll tell you who Massimiliano Allegri’s dream is. Massimiliano Allegri’s dream is a centre forward whom he appreciated, whom he liked a lot even though he wasn’t prolific that year: the player in question is Fiorentina’s Moise Kean.

“He would be ideal for Milan: Italian, knows Italian football very well. A great friend of Rafa Leao, he would run to join Milan.”

Kean has Premier League interest too

Kean’s stock has risen dramatically since leaving the Toffees, and Premier League clubs are showing an interest in bringing him back to England.

Manchester United have been eyeing Kean as they look to sign an upgrade on Rasmus Hojlund, who has struggled at Old Trafford.

Arsenal have also been looking at Kean, and so too have Newcastle United, so clearly there is serious competition for his signature.

What could have been for Everton.
