‘Awful’ reality dawns as new Stoke City home kit divides opinion like never before
Some Stoke City fans could start a fight in a phone box, so presenting them with a new kit slightly at odds with the usual red and white up and down strips was always going to divide opinion.
Factor in that fans themselves had an input into the design and you’d think there would be some sort of consensus, but it seems that is not the case.
The new home kit was unveiled earlier today, and it has provoked plenty of reaction - some of it good, most of it not.
The new kit was widely leaked in advance of the release, but far from letting those not impressed down lightly, it merely seems to have sparked an even greater wringing of hands from those hoping, in their opinion, that common sense would yet prevail.
A club statement to accompany the launch stated: “The 25/26 home kit is the result of a labour of love from Stokies who took part in fan assemblies to decide on the design for the new campaign.
“The shirt embraces a new variation on the iconic red and white stripes and was an instant hit with the group of players that modelled it for the promotional video which premiered today.”
Well be that as it may, supporters have been quick to pass judgement - both on the design and the price of the new shirts.

Dobinghattrick: Crooked stripes! Is this a practical joke? Who on earth thought this was a good idea? My first thought on seeing it was do I need an eye test. Only saving grace is that it’s not the red shirt with white sleeves “Arsenal“ shirt of 1983-85.

Igiveupnow: I'm not a fan of the design, but as I didn't give any input I'll just go with it. The most important thing is the players that wear it and the pride they take in being a Stoke City player.

Stripey47: I am really saddened that the proud stripes of Stoke City have been so comically disfigured and can only assume the majority of fans who approved the 'Circus Design' must be under 10 years old.
