RC Strasbourg president announces that Everton target Habib Diarra can leave
Everton have set their sights on signing Habib Diarra this summer after his stellar season in Ligue 1 with RC Strasbourg.
It’s been reported over the last few weeks that Moyes is lining up a bid for Diarra, who is valued at around £25m.
Leeds have already made a £22m offer for Diarra, so there is a pressing need to speed things up from Everton’s perspective.
Now, Strasbourg’s president Marc Keller has just publicly announced that the Senegal international can leave after making a promise.
“There’s one player who should leave, based on a promise I made to him two years ago, and that’s our captain Habib Diarra,” Keller told RMC Sport.
“When he extended his contract, we told him he was extending it, but that he wouldn’t leave until June 2025. So, if we get an attractive offer for him and for us, he could leave.”
Diarra would be a brilliant signing for Everton
Diarra, who is good friends with compatriot Idrissa Gana Gueye, is widely regarded as one of the best young midfielders in Europe.
The Senegalese star is already captaining Strasbourg, aged just 21, so clearly manager Liam Rosenior sees him as a leader.
Diarra typically operates as a box-to-box midfielder and contributed to a commendable nine goals last term.
