€20m budget and desire to sign Wolves player – Battle ahead for transfer

Fábio Silva has been linked with multiple clubs in the run up to the summer transfer window, but in terms of concrete efforts to sign the Wolves player there doesn’t appear to be an awful lot happening right now.

The 22-year-old arrived at Wolves in 2020, in what looked like a financial arrangement to help FC Porto out. There had been some expectations around the future development of the forward’s talent but nothing to really justify an immediate move to the Premier League or the fee Wolves paid.

Unsurprisingly, the youngster wasn’t ready to perform for Wolves at the level needed, and has since been on loans to Anderlecht, PSV, Rangers and Las Palmas. The last loan was the best, with Fábio Silva scoring 10 goals in 25 matches.

Las Palmas were ultimately relegated, finishing second bottom and nine points from safety, so he won’t be staying there. Multiple reports have suggested he moves elsewhere in Spain but there’s also claims from Germany.

This week’s edition of Sport Bild reports Wolfsburg are keen and they have around €20m to spend on a striker. They’re aware there’ll be competition for the Wolves player and they haven’t moved forward yet.

Fábio Silva has a contract lasting until June 2026.
