Everton confirm departure of defensive duo

Everton Football Club have confirmed that both Heather Payne and Justine Vanhaevermaet will depart the club upon the expiration of their current contracts.

Vanhaevermaet was an instrumental figure in Everton’s 2024/25 Women’s Super League season, featuring in all but one of the side’s league fixtures. The Belgian powerhouse has made 48 appearances during her time at the Toffees.

Heather Payne is also set to depart Everton upon the expiration of her contract. The Republic of Ireland wing-back has made 42 appearances during her two-year tenure in Merseyside.

“Heather has worked tirelessly and her improvement as a player, and a person, is clear to see. Her attitude and desire to win games has helped us massively throughout my time as head coach.

“On behalf of everyone at the Club, I want to thank both players for their service and we wish them all the very best for the future.”
