Leicestershire Live made a statement in a recent article. They informed us that it is likely Ruud van Nistelrooy will soon be replaced. He is accordingly expected to leave and will not be in charge of pre-season training.
This Leicestershire Live statement makes it certain that Leicester will have a new manager when pre-season starts. Three games are confirmed to take place from the 3rd of July.
This aligns with the fact that the club has all players on contracts for this season. They also have deals for future seasons. A new manager will certainly be backed with funds as we see the club have started chases of different players.
The scouting system at Leicester is very much in place. They manage to spot talent often seeing eyebrows raised. Leicester often get players in, few would believe would be possible.
It looks as if the club has little or no information to provide regarding the manager situation at this point. This approach is very much in line with the way Leicester did things before they appointed Enzo Maresca.
Last summer when Steve Cooper was appointed, Graham Potter was the frontrunner. Initially, he would have been given the job if he had fancied it. However, he decided to do something else.
Impatient fans do not have a say in this. Listening to all the different opinions shows that the club is doing absolutely the correct thing. The club chooses not to comment on gossip. It also avoids responding to different theories put forward by various branches of the fanbase, newspapers, and football bloggers.
The good thing with all these different opinions and fantalk is that it provides a broader picture of what people think. The major problem is filtering it. We should not listen to those shouting the loudest and most negatively. That would be stupid.
There are of course a lot of different things who are up in the air at the moment. The shirt for the 2025/26 season is not yet launched. We have no clue how it will look. We also don’t know who will be the shirt sponsor, with the recent reports regarding BC Game.
The fact that that people in the coaching staff could be on the way out, is no indication of nothing really. Brian Barry-Murphy and Jelle ten Rouwelaar has not been at Leicester very long, they are now approached by other clubs.
The talk brought to the table is mostly bookies names and manager agents talking up their candidates. Steve Cooper was an obvious name last summer, Enzo Maresca was not the season before.
Michael Carrick is a name coming up, being sacked at Middlesbrough. The current list is full of names that could be totally random. There are different candidates picked up from a hat.
We earlier suggested that one of the most promising young manager prospects in England, current boss of Man City U.21, Ben Wilkinson, would be a fitting man to talk to. He has not been in any lists of potential managers to take over. Wilkinson has been completely off the radar but fits this position perfectly. The son of Howard Wilkinson, one of the most prominent managers in England, is certainly a wild card. He will be in an assisting role for Man City as they take part in the World Cup Championship, and could soon be close to a push up the ladder with The Blues. Wilkinson is a perfect choice and one who could do this job.
We will know who the next manager will be in a week or two. According to Leicestershire Live, we can rule out Ruud van Nistelrooy.
