John Calipari Sends Clear Message About Former Five-Star’s NBA Draft Decision

John Calipari has quickly turned the Arkansas Razorbacks men’s basketball team into one of the premier programs in the country.

Calipari will be welcoming a handful of blue-chip prospects in the 2025 recruiting cycle, having already lured top talent to the Razorbacks. This past season, Arkansas was led by Adou Thiero, Boogie Fland, Johnell Davis and a few other names that filled the stat sheet.

An intriguing player of the bunch was freshman Karter Knox. He capped off his freshman season posting 8.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. Following the season, Knox has elected to test the NBA Draft waters and potentially leave Arkansas for an opportunity at the big leagues.

Calipari commented on Knox’s decision in a recent social media post, seemingly backing the former highly touted recruit. “As you read today, Karter is testing the waters, which I fully agree with,” Calipari said.

“That being said, I’m liking this group.” Knox committed to the program as a five-star prospect, ranked as the No. 8 small forward and the No. 22 overall player in the nation, per 247Sports. While Calipari will be missing the production from the young athlete, a couple of stars are set to hit campus very soon.

Arkansas is welcoming Darius Acuff Jr. and Maleek Thomas this offseason. Acuff is ranked as the No. 2 point guard and No. 12 overall player while Maleek Thomas is listed as the No. 2 shooting guard and No. 10 overall player in the nation, per 247Sports.
