Leeds ‘ready to raid Everton’ for Keane transfer as 49ers learn news from USA

Michael Keane could be ready to make the switch from Everton to Leeds United this summer.

The defender has seen minutes more limited for the Toffees this season, making 14 appearances across the Premier League campaign, with his contract expiring at the end of June.

Nevertheless, the 32-year-old feels he has more to give, and Daniel Farke may be ready to turn to the new home of former Leeds man Angus Kinnear to strike a deal this summer.

Leeds ready to battle for Keane

As Farke looks to get Leeds in shape for life in the Premier League, the boss is looking to add experience to his side.

Although the Whites built a strong team in the Championship, currently, a lack of Premier League-prepared players could leave them struggling for survival.

With that in mind, Keane has been identified as someone who could kill two birds with one stone, according to the Liverpool Echo (16 June).

The report states that having been reliable when called upon by David Moyes this season, Leeds are one side that are interested in his services.

They will, however, face competition with Burnley also holding an interest, although Sheffield United shouldn’t be too much of a threat after their failure to get promoted.

There has been interest from further afield too, though, with Keane being tracked by sides in the United States and Italy back in January.

With no cost over a possible deal as things stand, it could be a bargain.

Keane could be a solid option for Leeds

As Leeds return to the top flight, Farke and the 49ers are right to be looking at some squad members who already have what it takes to compete.

Being able to combine this with a target area is ideal and, although Keane may be reaching the latter stages of his career, he has certainly proved he has the ability to still perform.

One thing that could prove to be a stumbling block is striking a deal on expected minutes.

Keane’s game time has significantly decreased.

Keane is seemingly hoping to make a move somewhere he can still be given the opportunity to play regularly, but Leeds cannot look at the 32-year-old like that, as they already have better players in the squad.

It’s certainly not a bad deal, though, and one that the West Yorkshire outfit can continue to monitor.
