Leeds United fans told they can forget about £34m transfer, ‘no interest in him at all’

Leeds United fans can now forget about one potential summer signing, after interest in his services was completely shut down.

Already there seems to be hundreds of players linked with Leeds United this summer, with new names mentioned alongside a possible Elland Road switch almost every day now.

As things stand, the summer transfer window has closed briefly, re-opening on June 16th for the remainder of the summer.

And when the window re-opens, we might well have news of a potential new signing at the club, with Leeds United working hard to sign Jaka Bijol from Udinese this summer.

He’s just one of a number of players on the continent who Daniel Farke has seemingly put on his transfer shortlist this summer, and one of the few players who seem to be of definite interest right now.

Bijol could cost Leeds United as much as £17million this summer. Following promotion to the Premier League though, £17million seems like a very doable deal. But double that could be a bit more of an ask, and that’s how much Igor Paixao would cost.

Leeds United handed update on Igor Paixao transfer rumours

Paixao, 24, has just capped an incredible 2024/25 season with Feyenoord in the Eredivisie. The Brazilian winger scored 16 and assisted 10 more in 34 league games for Robin van Persie’s side, and it now looks as though he could secure a big money move somewhere else in Europe this summer.

Leeds United have been linked with Paixao, along with Premier League rivals Brighton. Elsewhere, it’s been claimed that Marseille have made a £17million bid for Paixao, though Feyenoord are understood to want a fee closer to £34million for the former Cortiba man.

Now though, Dutch journalist Valentijn Driessen has shut down all rumours of Paixao leaving Feyenoord this summer. He’s said on De Telegraaf’s Kick-off Podcast: “Our friend Paixao. There is no interest in him at all. No Napoli either. They are linked to everyone.”

That seemingly brings an end to the rumours that Leeds had made an enquiry to Feyenoord to sign Paixao this summer.

Two things are clear for Daniel Farke at Leeds United right now

It’s not exactly been a slow start for Leeds United this summer. Rumours of a £22million bid to sign Habib Diarra from Strasbourg and the Bijol news suggests Leeds are making moves early, though nobody seems as though they’re on the brink of signing.

But if anything, we’re getting a clearer picture of what Farke wants: among many other things, it looks like the German is working hard to sign a new attacker, specifically a winger like Diarra or Paixao, or Fulham’s £50million-rated Rodrigo Muniz.

The other thing that’s become clear in the last week or so is that Leeds are ready to spend big on a marquee attacking signing this summer, be it Diarra or Muniz, with reports that Leeds United have a £150million transfer budget for this summer.

It’s an exciting time to be a Leeds fan, no doubt, but Farke has a lot of pressure to deliver in the transfer market this summer.
