Leeds United are in the picture to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Hugo Bueno, according to a report from Spain.
The left-back is with the Spain U21, preparing for the U21 Euros quarter-final against England on Saturday.
Ahead of this tie, Friday’s edition of Marca looks at the Wolves man, Leeds’s Mateo Joseph and Aston Villa’s Andrés García as the trio are players in the Spain U21 squad associated with English clubs.
The newspaper looks at how their respective clubs signed them and discusses their current situation.
Wolves sent Bueno on loan to Feyenoord this season, and he played 30 games for them. Marca say the 22-year-old had a ‘very successful’ season with the Dutch club. Leeds have taken note of this and have the Spaniard on their agenda for this summer.
He will return to Wolves, who will have to make a decision on the fullback’s future.
Junior Firpo was the first-choice for Daniel Farke and has a contract with Leeds until June 30th. He’s set to join Real Betis on a free transfer, forcing the Whites to look for options in the market and have the Wolves player on the list.
Leeds have to be wary of the competition from Feyenoord. Voetbal International, relayed by Fr-Fans.nl, report Eredivisie side want to buy Bueno from Wolves. Farke’s side will have to step up if they want to secure the defender’s services.
Wolves sold Rayan Aït-Nouri to Manchester City and it’s unclear if they are willing to sell Bueno in the same window.
With Leeds and Feyenoord trying to sign Bueno, Vítor Pereira and his side have to make a decision on the Spaniard, who has a contract until 2028.
