Leicester City fans hoping for news on the managerial position at the King Power Stadium will have to wait a little longer – but there is an update concerning the company that owns the Foxes.
Ruud van Nistelrooy has been left in limbo since Leicester’s relegation to the Championship was confirmed, despite pleading for an early decision amid plenty of speculation that he was about to be sacked.
But the silence from the top has been deafening – and maybe that is partly because of a reshuffle at the summit of King Power, the Bangkok-based travel retail group that has helped bankroll the Foxes over the past 15 years.
According to the Money and Banking Online website, King Power has appointed Nitinai Sirismatthakarn as their new chief executive officer, with Foxes owner Aiyawatt “Top” Srivaddhanaprabha, the current CEO, assuming the position of group executive chairman.
The website says of Top: “He plays an important role in determining the direction and setting the policy framework for business operations (at King Power), while Mr Nitinai will join in to strengthen the strategy for managing King Power Corporation Limited so that the organisation’s operations will proceed in the direction that has been well-established.”
The new man is a former director-general of the Airports of Thailand Public Company Ltd who holds a doctorate in economics from Florida State University, but that will be of little consolation to Foxes fans ahead of a second season in three years supporting a Championship club.
