Marshall Munetsi experienced his first taste of Premier League football after joining from Stade Reims in the January transfer window.
Wolves captured Munetsi for £16.6 million in the winter, along with defenders Emmanuel Agbadou and Nasser Djiga.
Although the 28-year-old was signed as a box-to-box midfielder, Vitor Pereira used him almost as a second striker, giving him license to play close to Jorgen Strand Larsen.
Wolves fans were critical of Munetsi as they felt he was only in the team for his pressing and didn’t offer his teammates much technically.
But after scoring twice in 14 appearances for the club, the Zimbabwean has promised to improve on his performances in 2025/26.

The Old Gold experienced a lot of heartache but also joyous moments during the 2024/25 campaign. While they were battered by Chelsea on two occasions, Wolves did the league double over Manchester United for the first time in 45 years.
United had a season to forget after losing in the Europa League final to Tottenham and finishing 15th in the league, only above Wolves on goal difference.
So, when Munetsi spoke of the contrast between football in Ligue 1 compared to the Premier League, the midfielder hilariously mocked Man United by suggesting that playing against them was ‘easy’.
“I think it’s hard because every game is not easy, even if you’re going to play Southampton, Crystal Palace, Manchester United,” Munetsi said via the E&S.
“Each and every weekend there’s always a tough opponent, so you can never really say we’re going to relax today. This is something that makes it the best league in the world and it’s the best for a reason.
After sharing his admiration for England’s top-flight, Munetsi finished by promising Wolves fans he will do ‘better’ next season.
“You get quality players in every team, so it’s been really good for me to get this challenge and obviously now I know more about how everything is done here and I think for the next year I will do better,” he added.
Munetsi thinks Wolves can cope without Matheus Cunha
Ironically, Matheus Cunha joined Manchester United for £62.5 million earlier this month, and Munetsi has mocked the Brazilian’s new club with the above comment.
Many people outside of Wolves feel that Pereira’s men will struggle after selling the man who amassed 23 goal involvements last term, though Munetsi thinks Wolves can cope without Cunha.
“We had a time where Matheus (Cunha) was suspended and he was the player that we needed most and I think everybody really pushed from there because people already considered that if Matheus is not there, then we’re going to struggle,” the midfield powerhouse said.
“But I think everybody understood the objective and I think as players we really wanted the team to stay high.”
Wolves won three of their four games when Cunha was suspended but the club will know that a top-level replacement is needed.
