Derek McInnes may be concerned as Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland could potentially sign for Rangers this transfer window.
The former Kilmarnock boss was appointed as the Edinburgh outfit’s new head coach recently and would like to see the Scottish centre-forward continue his career at Tynecastle Park.
Shankland’s contract at Hearts expires at the end of June, and the Gers have been linked as a possible destination for him.
McInnes could potentially hinder a move to Ibrox as he’s pushing the 29-year-old to sign a new deal at the Jambos, but the Scottish forward may be an easy target for the Light Blues to convince.

There have been suggestions that Shankland may have a move to the Gers on his mind, Roger Hannah says.
The SunSport journalist feels the Light Blues won’t have an issue luring the 29-year-old to Ibrox on a free transfer once his contract at Hearts expires.
Hannah believes the striker would be a valuable addition to the Glaswegian outfit’s squad, and it would be a no-brainer decision to sign him.

Speaking on The Scottish Sun Sport (24 June), the journalist said: “For me, it’s a no-brainer. I’m not saying bring Shankland in and give him 50 games and have him leading the line in the Champions League group stages. Not at all. But when you look at what Rangers have got at the minute, and you look at some of the difficulties they’ve got.
“There’s a suggestion that he may be Rangers-minded. So I don’t think it will be difficult to deal with if they went to get him. I just think that kind of player can be valuable.”
With Shankland seemingly thinking about a move to the Bears, McInnes will undoubtedly be sweating over the possibility of him leaving instead of extending his contract.
The Scotland international was underwhelming last season, but he has consistently performed for the Jambos in previous years, making him a decent backup option for Russel Martin.

The Gers will undoubtedly need to bolster their attack if they lose a number nine, and Shankland feels like the perfect option for them.
Considering the 29-year-old’s experience in the Scottish Premiership, there’s no reason for the Light Blues to dismiss his signing.
The Glaswegian outfit should push for the Hearts centre-forward’s addition at Ibrox, but it remains to be seen how his situation unfolds in the coming days.
