Navy Builds Commanding Lead after Round One at the 2025 Patriot League Women’s Golf Championship

 

 

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Navy shot a 4-over par 292 in an impressive first round to take an 18-stroke lead over second-place Boston University at the 2025 Patriot League Women’s Golf Championship presented by Credit Union 1 at Saucon Valley Country Club.

Mids’ freshmen Vivian Cressman and Megan Kirkpatrick are tied atop the individual leaderboard after shooting even-par-72 to help Navy finish atop the five-team field. All six Mids rank among the top seven with sophomore Emma Tang (+1, 73) tied for third, and junior Sue Lee (+3, 75), sophomore Keira Howard (+3, 75) and senior Bridget Hoang (+3, 75) tied for fifth.

Boston University is second among the five-team field after carding a 22-over par 310 in the first round. Junior Annika Manjunath is tied for third after shooting a 1-over par 73 to lead the Terriers. Two-time Patriot League Player of the Year Christy Chen is eighth with a first-round score of 4-over par 76.

Host Lehigh is third at 37-over par 325. First-year Alana Hall leads the Mountain Hawks and is tied for 11th place after shooting an 8-over par 80. Sophomores Yuki Zhu and Stefania Fedun are tied for 14th at 9-over par 81.

Bucknell is two strokes behind Lehigh at 39-over par 327 through one round. Freshman Sophia Bardunias led the Bison in the first round with a 6-over par 78, while junior Paige Richter shot an 8-over par 80 to tie for 11th.

Holy Cross rounds out the field, one stroke behind Bucknell, with a first-round 40-over par 328. Freshman Sophia Cellura leads the Crusaders at 6-over par 78 through one round. Sophomore Neve Thanner is tied for 14th after a first-round score of 9-over par 81.

Second-round action at the 2025 Patriot League Women’s Golf Championship presented by Credit Union 1 will begin at 9 a.m. at Saucon Valley Country Club.

INDIVIDUAL HONORS: The competitor with the lowest three-round score will be the Patriot League Women’s Golf Championship individual medalist. The top six finishers receive a spot on the All-Patriot League First Team, with the following six finishers receiving second-team honors. Patriot League women’s golf head coaches will vote for the three major awards – player, rookie and coach of the year – at the conclusion of the championship.

CROWNING A TEAM CHAMPION: Each of the five participating teams consists of six golfers, with the top four scorers in each round counting toward the team score. The final team score will be determined by totaling all completed rounds. Individual scoring consists of the lowest aggregate score of all completed rounds. Navy is the defending Patriot League champion after winning at the Bucknell Golf Club last season. The Mids captured their second League crown. Boston University has three Patriot League titles. Bucknell (2014) and Lehigh (2013) have each won one League title. Richmond, who competed in the League as an associate member from 2015 until 2024, claimed four titles.

TEAM CHAMPION EARNS AUTOMATIC BID TO THE NCAA REGIONALS: The Patriot League Champion will receive the League’s automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s Golf Regionals. The individual medalist will also receive a bid to the regionals if they are not on the championship team. The NCAA Regionals will be held from May 5-7 at six sites around the country, including Charlottesville, Va.; Columbus, Ohio; Golf Canyon, Ariz.; Lexington, Ky.; Lubbock, Texas and Norman, Okla. The championship is scheduled for May 16-21 in Carlsbad, Calif. The 2025 NCAA DI Women’s Golf Selection Show will be on GOLF Channel on Wednesday, April 23 at 1 p.m. ET.
