By now, we’re all aware that Liverpool have nudged Arsenal out of the way to become the club that feels entitled to Alexander Isak (and Anthony Gordon, it seems).
We also know Newcastle United’s stance on selling Alexander Isak – It’s absolutely not happening.
Also, if you have your head in the game when it comes to transfer rumours, you’ll know that every time Newcastle are linked to a high-profile striker, someone will take that story and spin it into a story that Newcastle are shopping for a replacement for Isak, almost without fail.
Newcastle want Diogo Jota, so Liverpool can have Alexander Isak – Logic
Now, imagine if you will, a story from an unofficial club page, such as ours, claiming to have sources yet not having any actual quotes (like Football Insider), claiming that Newcastle want one of their players, which will open up a move for Isak. Well, you don’t have to imagine, because it has happened.
Anfield Index have reported that their sources are telling them that Newcastle have an interest in Liverpool striker Diogo Jota, as well as the well-reported links to Jarell Quansah, Joe Gomez and Harvey Elliott.
But of course, with Jota being a striker, that means, to Anfield Index at least, that Newcastle could be willing to sell them Alexander Isak.
We don’t hate the player – we hate the game (transfer rumours that is, not football)
Look, we get it, they’re catering to an audience of Liverpool fans, and it’s an exciting story for them to think that they could recoup some money before making another move for a £100m+ player after the signing of Florian Wirtz.
However, the reality is that Newcastle have no desire and no need to let Alexander Isak leave, and are expected to open contract talks with him next month to become the club’s highest-paid player.
As for the Diogo Jota link, we’ve not heard it anywhere else. At least not for months. Having said that, we wouldn’t say no.
