The 2024/25 Premier League campaign has reached a pivotal stage of the season, and the race to finish as the competition’s leading goal-scorer is also hotting up.
Last season saw Erling Haaland yet again dominate charts despite a mid-season injury. Cole Palmer, meanwhile, stunned the world as he surged to a second-place finish after a four-goal haul against Everton late in the season.
Haaland had long topped the charts, reaching 100 in all competitions for City by scoring against Arsenal, but his team’s struggles opened the door to his closest challenger, Mohamed Salah, who is now clear at the top of the standings. Salah moved on to 28 for the season when Liverpool sealed their 20th English title with a 5-1 rout of Tottenham.
An ankle injury that will rule Haaland out of the majority of the season run-in means Salah has probably got the prize sewn up. Newcastle United frontman Alexander Isak has now gone past Haaland into second place, and the latter could not find the net as Manchester City were held to a draw by Southampton.
