Russell Martin may bring Nottingham Forest left-back Harry Toffolo to Rangers this summer transfer window.
The 29-year-old will leave the Tricky Trees as a free agent at the end of June once his contract expires with the Premier League outfit.
Toffolo has been linked with a move to Ibrox recently, but it remains to be seen whether a deal can be completed in the coming weeks.
Martin may be without Ridvan Yilmaz before the start of the upcoming campaign, and it would make sense for the Gers to make an approach for the English defender.
Martin knows Toffolo as Rangers may make transfer approach
Toffolo may be an option for the Glaswegian outfit after leaving Forest as a free agent, Scott McDermott says.
The Scottish journalist feels the 29-year-old would be a decent signing for the Light Blues if he were to arrive at Ibrox in a bargain transfer.
McDermott believes the English defender would fit in well at the Bears, and Martin is also familiar with him as they were together at Norwich City.

Speaking on Hotline Live (16 June), the journalist said: “He’s a left-back who’s finished his contract at Forest, they’ve let him go, so he’s a free agent.
“I thought for Rangers, he’d constitute a decent signing for them. Martin knows him, I think I’m right in saying he was a kid coming through at Norwich while Martin was there.
“He actually did come in towards the end of last season. He’d be a good fit for someone. I thought Rangers might look at him as a left-back option.”
Jefte upgrade needed at Ibrox after Martin appointment
Jefte was linked with Chelsea in the winter transfer window after his impressive displays for the Gers in the first half of the season.
The Brazilian left-back’s performances have declined in recent months, with fans expressing concern about his defensive contributions at the Light Blues.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Bears sanction the 21-year-old’s sale this summer if they receive a decent offer for him.
Rangers have Yilmaz on their books, but the Turkish national could return home in the coming weeks, leaving Martin with a lack of defensive options.
Toffolo represents a player with immense experience in English top-flight football, and with his limited game time in the current campaign, the left-back could potentially seek to restart his career with a move to G51.
While there may be other teams in the Premier League eyeing the 29-year-old, the Gers offer him the prospect of challenging for titles and playing in Europe.
