As of now, there is no publicly available information indicating that the Georgia Bulldogs have promoted a defensive position coach to associate head coach. However, recent staff changes have occurred within the program.
In February 2025, Andrew Thacker, who previously served as a defensive analyst for Georgia, was promoted to the role of nickels coach. Thacker joined the Bulldogs’ staff after serving as the defensive coordinator at Georgia Tech from 2019 to 2023 .
Additionally, in 2023, Todd Hartley, Georgia’s tight ends coach, was promoted to assistant head coach. Hartley has been a part of the Bulldogs’ coaching staff since 2019 and has contributed to the team’s national championship victories in 2021 and 2022 .
While these promotions reflect the program’s commitment to recognizing and advancing coaching talent, there has been no official announcement regarding a defensive position coach being elevated to the role of associate head coach
