One of the new hires is a familiar face to the Bulldogs’ community—a former assistant coach under Mark Richt. These additions are expected to bring valuable experience and insight to Georgia’s football operations.
1. Ty Hatcher: A Familiar Name Returns
Ty Hatcher joins Georgia’s support staff as an offensive analyst/quality control coach. At 24 years old, Hatcher brings a wealth of experience from top-tier programs. He previously worked with quarterbacks at Oklahoma, under the guidance of Jeff Lebby, and at Texas A&M in 2023, where he collaborated with Bobby Petrino. His coaching journey also includes a tenure at Alabama in 2021, working alongside Bill O’Brien.
Hatcher’s connection to Georgia is personal and professional. His father, Chris Hatcher, was Kirby Smart’s first boss in college football. In 2000, Chris Hatcher served as the head coach at Valdosta State, where Smart began his coaching career as a defensive backs coach. This familial link underscores Hatcher’s deep ties to Georgia’s football legacy.
In his new role, Hatcher will assist in various capacities, including game planning, film analysis, and supporting the coaching staff during practices. The NCAA’s recent allowance for support staff to coach during practice sessions enhances Hatcher’s ability to contribute directly to the team’s development.
2. Stacy Searels: A Return to Georgia’s Offensive Line
Stacy Searels has been appointed as Georgia’s offensive line coach. A 30-year coaching veteran, Searels previously served as Georgia’s offensive line coach from 2007 to 2010 under Mark Richt, where he also held the title of running game coordinator. His tenure was marked by a strong offensive line that contributed to Georgia’s competitive success during that period.
Searels’ coaching career includes a recent stint at North Carolina, where he served as an offensive line assistant for the past three seasons. His extensive experience and familiarity with Georgia’s program make him a valuable addition to the coaching staff. Searels replaces Matt Luke, who stepped down to spend more time with his family.
3. Ronnie Letson: Enhancing Player Personnel Operations
Ronnie Letson has been hired as Georgia’s director of player personnel. Letson’s background includes a role as an offensive analyst at Alabama, where he gained experience in player evaluation and recruitment strategies. He also served as the wide receivers coach at Samford University.
In his new position, Letson will oversee aspects of player recruitment, evaluation, and organizational logistics. His appointment reflects Georgia’s commitment to strengthening its recruiting operations and maintaining a competitive edge in talent acquisition.
4. Mark Robinson: Chief of Staff Role
Mark Robinson has been appointed to a key administrative position within Georgia’s football program. Robinson’s previous experience includes serving as the director of football operations at Arkansas for five seasons. He also held roles at Texas A&M and Florida State, contributing to the operational efficiency of these programs.
In his role as chief of staff, Robinson will manage the day-to-day operations of the football program, including team logistics, travel arrangements, and coordination between coaching staff and administration. His extensive background in football operations will be instrumental in supporting the program’s overall success.
