Recent reports have shared that Liverpool are prepared to offer Newcastle United a huge fee for star striker Alexander Isak this summer.
After his best season since joining the Magpies in 2022, it comes as no surprise that there is interest in Eddie Howe’s top striker.
Alexander Isak is undoubtedly Newcastle United’s most valuable player, having scored 23 Premier League goals and netted in important cup games, including the Carabao Cup final.
Newcastle want to give Isak a new contract this summer to deter interest from any interested parties, but they are now under pressure to deliver after it was reported that Liverpool are willing to break the British transfer record for Isak.
Despite those reports, Newcastle are adamant that Isak is not for sale and will look to rebuff any approaches for him this summer. The 25-year-old still has three years left on his existing deal and appears to be happy on Tyneside, so a deal will be very difficult to do.
With Newcastle prepared for the tough task of keeping Isak at the club this summer, transfer correspondent Ben Jacobs has shared the latest he has heard about Liverpool’s interest.

Jacob Murphy thinks Isak is the best player in the world, a statement many Newcastle fans will agree with. However, if a deal is right, they could see their best striker since Alan Shearer leave the club this summer.
The thought of joining Liverpool will surely be an interesting one for Isak, especially after their Premier League title win, but with both teams playing in the Champions League next season, he could opt to stay on Tyneside.
With work going on behind the scenes at Liverpool for Isak, Jacobs has shared what he has been told by insiders about a deal between the two clubs.
“Isak remains, like with Arsenal, the ‘dream target’,” Jacobs said on GiveMeSport’s ‘Market Madness’
“But Liverpool feel like there could be a window of opportunity in the coming weeks even though we have to respect Newcastle and their position is still ‘not for sale’.
“Liverpool’s perspective is it might be worth trying nonetheless, and what I’m told they are prepared to do, as they did with Wirtz, is offer Newcastle United a guaranteed £100m and then a package overall that may even surpass the £116m that Liverpool agreed with Leverkusen for Wirtz.
“Naturally, Liverpool know that this is a difficult deal to pull off. Newcastle insiders insist that with UCL football that they hold all the cards. Isak is well paid and contracted, and maybe even an offer of £150m, even closer to £200m would change Newcastle’s mind.
“Liverpool may still try for Alexander Isak before moving onto another target.”

While Liverpool are circling to strike a deal with Newcastle for Isak, it will be far from an easy task, like Jacobs says.
Howe will be very reluctant to let Isak go due to his desire to build a team around him for the future. Newcastle are interested in signing Brighton’s Joao Pedro this summer, with the idea being that he will play alongside Isak in attack next season.

Club staff will also be fully aware of chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan’s stance on selling the striker this summer. After his February St James’ Park appearance, Al-Rumayyan told Newcastle not to sell Isak because he is his favourite player.
Newcastle have to follow Al-Rumayyan’s orders on Isak. The Sweden international is a prized asset at the club and the recruitment team will have a very hard time finding his replacement.
Isak has been likened to Thierry Henry in the past; very few players could replicate anything near what he has done at Newcastle.
