Wolverhampton Wanderers have made a ‘concrete’ initial offer for Nice forward Evann Guessand, according to AfricaFoot.
The Molineux outfit have identified the in-form Ivory Coast international as a target to bolster Vitor Pereira’s frontline, which has just lost Matheus Cunha to Manchester United.
Guessand’s profile is said to appeal to both Pereira and the Wolves recruitment team, who consider him a priority signing after Cunha’s £62.5m departure.
While the exact figures of their initial proposal have not been disclosed, Nice are reportedly demanding €30m (£25m) for the ‘underrated’ striker, who is under contract until June 2028.
Wolves Make Move for Evann Guessand
Nice are demanding £25m for the striker
According to AfricaFoot, Guessand has emerged as a striker target for several European clubs following his breakout season in France, where he helped Nice secure a place in the Champions League qualification round.
The ‘sensational’ Ajaccio-born striker scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions, with 21 of those goal contributions coming in Ligue 1.
Guessand is said to be open to a new challenge after two seasons with Nice’s first-team squad, and a move to the Premier League remains a strong possibility, with Wolves now positioning themselves as one of his top suitors.
GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Guessand has scored one goal in eight appearances for Ivory Coast.
Wolves have already generated around £100m in transfer fees this summer, having sold Cunha to Man United and Rayan Ait-Nouri to Manchester City.
The West Midlands club are now expected to reinvest some of that income in a new attacker, with talks for Celta Vigo starlet Fer Lopez progressing.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Wolves have already reached an agreement over personal terms with the 21-year-old and are now in ongoing negotiations with Vigo to finalise the deal.
